[00:00:01] I'm Rich Young iii. And this is an amazing thing. [00:00:17] I'm here to facilitate learning the Word of God on a fundamental level. [00:00:23] So join me and let's grow together and build a relationship with our creator. [00:00:29] And that starts now. [00:00:39] Hello, everyone, and welcome to an amazing thing. Thank you for joining me today. I'm so glad you're here. [00:00:45] This is our midweek Bible study where we have a continual Bible study that flows in a continual fashion so that you can follow along. [00:00:54] We're starting from a very, very elementary level and progressing as we go along. [00:00:59] The first time we were here with our midweek Bible study, it was in the beginning. And all of that comes under the category of learning the Word of God. And this is going to be entitled in the Beginning, Part two, because we'll continue with what we started on before and we'll flow. We started last time with the number of books in the Bible, the order of the books, the characterization and how it's broken down. And so we will continue this week with the breakdown going to the New Testament. [00:01:31] We'll start with the number of books. We know that the New Testament has 27 books in it. [00:01:36] An easy way to be able to remember that is the word old has three letters. The word testament has nine letters. Three times nine is 27. [00:01:46] So that's an easy way. And you'll never forget that the New Testament has 27 books in it. [00:01:53] The New Testament is also divided up into different categories. [00:01:58] We have the Gospels, which is Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. And those are called Gospels because they all contain the death, the burial, the resurrection of Jesus. [00:02:11] If one of those four Gospels did not contain the resurrection, we'd have three Gospels. And so I make that point so we can know that is the definition of what the Gospel, the word Gospel, means and how we can know what it is. They also contain different aspects of the our Lord Jesus Christ's life. The things he said, the things he did, the teaching, the apostles how to build his church that he came here to establish. And so all of those things are aspects that we learn from the Gospels. [00:02:47] The next book is the Book of Acts, and the proper name for the Book of Acts is Actions of the Apostles. You know, we live in a society now where everything is brought down to its most elementary way. When I was a kid, Kentucky Fried Chicken, that was the name of it, Kentucky Fried Chicken. [00:03:09] Now we go to kfc, and it seems that everything we involve ourselves in has become a shortened version of what it once was. [00:03:18] And the Book of Acts is no, no, Different. But the Book of Acts is a very, very important book because how the apostles built the church and set up the church, as well as the principles that Jesus taught, all the directions that Jesus taught, what his church should be was given to the apostles. And so when we look at what we are supposed to be doing today, we know that the church of today should look just like the church that the apostles established 2,000 years ago. Because we don't have the authority to change the word of God into what we want it to be. It should be a reflection of Jesus Christ, not a reflection of us. [00:04:02] And so we keep that in mind as we go through the study of the words of the Lord, because the Lord wrote this book. And we'll cover scriptures that let us know that that reinforces that throughout the word of God. [00:04:17] Luke was the writer of the Book of Acts. [00:04:20] So Luke wrote two books of the Bible. He wrote the Gospel of Luke, and he also wrote the Book of Acts. And he wrote them to the same person, a person called Theophilus. [00:04:32] So we can know that you can flow right from the book of the Gospel of Luke right into the Book of Acts with no breaks. It's a continuation as well as all of the Gospels. You could flow right from the Book of John or from the. From the Gospel of John, from the Gospel of Matthew or the Gospel of Mark, and flow right into the Book of Acts. And it would be a natural flow. [00:04:53] So that's something that we should know. [00:04:56] We have next in the Bible are the epistles. [00:05:00] An epistle is a King James way of saying letter. [00:05:04] If I live 400 years ago and I was writing you a letter, I'd write you an epistle. [00:05:10] If we still use King James English, and I would send you an email, I would send you an E. Epistle. [00:05:16] So. And I say that just to simplify this so that we can know what this is. [00:05:21] And we have two types of epistles in the New Testament. [00:05:25] We have the. What's called the Pauline Epistles because they were all written by the Apostle Paul. And then we have the general epistles written by different authors to different people and different churches. Okay, we're going to go over those right now. We have the Epistle of Romans, we have First Corinthians, Second Corinthians, we have Galatians, we have Ephesians, we have Philippians, we have Colossians, we have First Thessalonians, we have Second Thessalonians, we have First Timothy, Second Timothy, Titus, Philemon, and Hebrews, all written by the Apostle Paul. And then we have what's called the general epistles, and they were written by different authors. We have James, the book of James, the Bible tells us that that was the Lord's half brother. [00:06:13] We have first Peter, second Peter written by the apostle Peter. We have first, second and third John written by the apostle John. And we have the book of Jude, which is a very, very short letter, but it was also written by whom the Bible tells us is the Lord's half brother. [00:06:31] And so this is how the, the general epistles are down. We also with this talking about this. [00:06:42] The first, second and third John was written by the apostle John, as well as the Gospel of John, as well as the book of Revelation, which is our prophecy book. [00:06:52] And that is a book that contraind. Most of that book contains prophecy. [00:06:56] The first three chapters of it is written to the people of that era, but the rest of it is futuristic from John's point of view. [00:07:06] And so like I said, all of these epistles are written to people in churches, written to people already born again. [00:07:14] A lot of times that we don't understand how things are broken down. That's why the importance of us breaking this down. Some people would look at that and say that's very elementary, but it's necessary because when you start reading someone else's mail, you might not understand what it is that they're saying if you don't know the history of these people and where they came from and what they're trying to establish and do. [00:07:37] And so that is where we are going to flow through this. So we can understand that. [00:07:47] We know that the Book of Revelation is a standalone book because of the prophecy book in the New Testament. And so some of those things have come to pass. If you'll look at some of our earlier shows, you'll see some of the things we talk about there shows that some of those things have come to pass. But most of the exciting things are just ahead of us here at the time in which we live. [00:08:11] How do we know the Bible is true? [00:08:14] Well, we have several ways. We have history, we have a lot of historical things that we can trace back and know that those things happen that are in the Bible. You know, we have prophecy, different things that was prophesied from earlier time that have come to pass, different things that are prophesied just ahead of us that are coming to pass. As we are recording this show, we're in the middle of some of those things. We have miracles. [00:08:41] You know, miracles is something that follows people who follow the Lord. You know, we will have times when we may need a healing and we may see someone go down in that water in the name of Jesus Christ. And so we need to know what these miracles are that we're witnessing. And those things will become a part of our lives. When we are witnessing to other people the miracles that God has worked out in our lives, we'll be able to talk about those and see those things. Now, I have taught Bible studies for quite a while. And when I first began the Bible studies, I would tell the stories and the miracles that were told to me by my pastors and elders and people in the church. [00:09:24] But I would look forward and say, at some point in the future, I'll have stories of my own to tell. [00:09:31] And I do have stories of my own to tell, things I've seen over the last 20 years in my walk in Christianity and walking with Jesus Christ. So we will, if we will, dedicate ourselves to being and doing and believing what our Lord that created us, asked us to do. We will have miracles happen in our lives. [00:09:52] We have experiences. Well, those miracles that we have in life are our experiences that will help us believe and to help others believe when they see and hear the things that God is doing in our lives and other members of our church and community. [00:10:06] And so we have the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Bedouin shepherd boys who were, you know, out herding sheep and like boys do, start throwing rocks, and they threw a rock in a cave and they heard something break, they went in to see what it was. And it was pots full of these scrolls that were written at the time of the early church. And some of those are, you know, some of it was decayed, but most of it was there and intact, whole books of the Bible. And so people would say that the Bible can't be trusted because it's translated so many times. That's not true. That's just what people say who don't want to believe in the Bible. And so we'll look at each of these categories. We know the Book of Daniel was discounted. And some people said that the Book of Daniel shouldn't belong in the Bible because we don't have any evidence of a Babylonian king named Belshazzar. And so that opinion was held for a long time. And then in the mid-1800s, they came across a corner post that sort of like a headstone would be to us and said that the inscription said, to King Nebuchadnezzar, his son Nabonidus, and his grandson Belshazzar. [00:11:20] So, and it was dated about the approximate 2500 years ago, the approximate time that these things happened. And now suddenly the Bible is right and all those naysayers were proven wrong. So your Bible can be trusted, and we should know that it can be trusted. And so also we have prophecy. We know that the testimony of Jesus is prophecy. [00:11:44] Jesus said, I tell you these things before they come to pass, so that when they do come to pass, you might believe. [00:11:52] Well, God gives each of us a measure of faith. [00:11:56] We shouldn't have blind faith because that causes us to follow people that we shouldn't follow. [00:12:01] You know, we've had all kinds of situations where people have followed people blindly, not knowing the truth of God, word, God's Word, thinking they're following some righteous person, but they end up going astray. And that's happened several times in our world as of late. [00:12:19] I could go down those things, but. But I'm going to continue here. [00:12:23] The prophecies that were given about Jesus 500 years before his birth, the virgin birth, that prophecy was given to us, that is found in Isaiah 7:14. It says, Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign. Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel. [00:12:46] Which being interpreted, God with us. [00:12:49] So Jesus was God with us. He was going to be born of a virgin. And that was foretold 600 years before he was born. So we can, we can know that we can trust this. The place of his birth was talked about 500 years before it was. This is Micah, chapter 5, verse 2. But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the nations of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth unto me, that is to be a ruler of Israel, whose going forth was from old, from everlasting. [00:13:27] So we know that that prophecy was. Was given more than 500 years before the birth of Jesus. We know that the, the price of the betrayal of Jesus. [00:13:39] Now we've all heard this story when, when Judas had made the deal to, to sell Jesus to the people who wanted to kill him. [00:13:50] The deal was made for 30 pieces of silver. And what would be done with the money? So that was prophesied. This is the book of zechariah and Zechariah 11, verse 12. And I'm going to read that. And I said unto them, if you think good, give me my price, if not for a bear. And they weighed my price. Thirty pieces of silver more than 500 years before Jesus was born. The amount of his betrayal, what that would be and how much it would be, not 29 pieces not 31, 30. And that's exactly how much it was that Jesus they sold Jesus for. And what would be done with the money that was foretold by the same prophet. This is Zechariah 11:13. [00:14:35] It said, and the Lord said unto me, cast it unto the potter. A goodly price that I was prized of of them. And I took the 30 pieces of silver and cast them to the potter in the house of the Lord. Now we remember what happened with that Judas had sold Jesus had to these people and he realized that this is innocent blood and he was sorry he did it. So he goes back and tries to undo the deal. And they said, no, you got what you wanted, we got what we wanted, you get on out of here. And so he in frustration, throws the 30 pieces of silver on the floor inside the temple, runs out and hangs himself. Well, they say we can't put this 30 pieces of silver in the treasury of the church because it's the price of blood. [00:15:21] And so they decided to buy a potter's field so that they would be able to bury strangers. You got to remember that Jerusalem was a international city in the middle of the desert. So people passing by, if you needed supplies, you come there. All different kinds of things you would come to a major city like that of that day for. [00:15:43] And so you have people that somebody have a heart attack, die, and some people get into a fight and get killed. So you had to have somewhere to bury those people in a potter's field. Not much is going to grow there. So it's almost a worthless piece of land for any kind of productive agriculture. So they decided to buy that piece of property, bury strangers there. And furthermore, they didn't want the strangers buried next to their relatives anyway. And so that's what they used the money for that was prophesied 500 years before. [00:16:14] And that's what the money was used for. And they cast it. [00:16:17] Judas cast the money inside the temple. So that was inside the house of the Lord is where this deal went down at. And so we can know that this is an amazing thing that we that can be trusted, that we can trust. [00:16:33] We have prophecies of the second coming of Jesus and we'll cover quite a lot of those prophecies as the study goes on. [00:16:41] And there's a lot of vast, exciting things that we're going to talk about here. [00:16:46] And so Psalms 119, verse 105 tells us this, that the word of God is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. [00:16:58] What that is saying to us that is illuminating so we can know how we should live as human beings. [00:17:04] The God who created us knows that something is valuable as a human being needs a way to navigate through life the way he was designed to do it. Now, we've made all kinds of problems for ourselves by doing it our way. [00:17:21] But the Bible is a lamp to our feet and it is a light tripath. And the Lord wants us to have a righteous path that we can take and walk with him. [00:17:33] And so that's the purpose of these studies as well. [00:17:36] And so I'm going to read another scripture here. This is John, chapter 5, verse 39, where Jesus said, for search the scriptures for in them you think you have eternal life and they are there to testify of me. So by this scripture is possible for us to think we have eternal life and not have it. [00:17:58] So when we have, we think about a lamp to our feet and a light to our path that certainly comes to us. [00:18:05] You know, I constantly talk to people all the time and I hear things like, you know, when you start talking about things of God, they say, well, I don't need that. I'm a good person. I'm a good person. [00:18:15] Well, if I had a nickel for every time somebody told me they was a good person, I'd have 25 or $30. And so that, you know, that's what the way people think that. And you know, a lot of people think there are different pathways to salvation, but we need to see what God says about that so we can be assured of what it is that we need to know. [00:18:35] And so, so take stay with me and we'll flow through the word of God and we'll cover many, many different things here. We're still in the beginning stages of this. And so we're going to continue along here now. Now we have a, an outlook of what the human experience has been since we were put on the earth here. And I'm going to show you this. This is a chart of the human experience. Now if you're joining this show on one of our video outlets, which would be YouTube or Spotify video, then you can see this. If not, if you're listening to us on the audio, which is, you know, on Apple or Spotify, however you get your podcast here, you, I'll have to describe this to you so you can know what we're saying. Here we have the beginning, and then we have God inserting Adam and Eve in time. Time is a human phenomenon. [00:19:40] And so when Adam and Eve failed to do what God had asked them to do. [00:19:45] They launched themselves into a separated period of life with God. [00:19:51] God didn't want to give up on his creation. So he says, I'm gonna have to try to bring them back. [00:19:57] So he creates time to put us in. Because time changes things. [00:20:03] If you don't believe time changes things, look at yourself in the mirror now. Then look at a picture yourself 15 years ago. [00:20:10] Time changes things. [00:20:12] And so Adam and Eve were placed in time to begin the process of God's reconciliation. Because Adam and Eve we're going to learn in a few lessons, well in this lesson actually how they separate themselves from God. And then we have a 2000 year period where man was, was in his own governing himself in his own sight. And we get to a man named Abraham. God was looking for someone. [00:20:41] Abraham's faith inspired God to do something in this man's life. [00:20:47] And then we have 2000 years later, Jesus Christ. Now a lot happened between Abraham and Jesus. We know Moses shows up and gives us the law. And we'll cover that in, in very, very intimate detail when we get there. But for the most part these are milestones. And we have 2,000 years after Abraham, Jesus Christ. [00:21:09] And then we have the beginning of what's called the Church age and grace. That's where we live. And we've lived there for the last 2000 years. And we approaching the end of the church age now. [00:21:21] So we are not very far from Jesus Christ returning to the earth for a second time. [00:21:27] And at that time he will be able to put down all the kingdoms of this world and they will become the kingdoms of Jesus. [00:21:35] And we who are a part of Jesus's family and his kingdom will rule and reign with him for 1,000 years. [00:21:44] And at the end of the 1,000 year period, or during that 1,000 years, Satan will be put in the bottomless pit. And so we'll have a thousand years of not having Satan tempt the human race and do those kinds of things. [00:21:58] We know as we approach the great White Throne Judgment, Satan will be released for a little season. [00:22:03] I don't know how long a little season is, but it's a very, very short period of time. [00:22:08] And then after that the human existence will end. [00:22:14] The White Throne judgment will happen and then we'll go back into eternity. [00:22:19] Actually eternity never stop. God lives in eternity. He does not live in time. [00:22:24] So we'll go back to eternity and we'll be with him because there will be no more need for time. The earth will be destroyed by fire because the earth is a place where human beings live, there will be no more human beings. So we would not need a place for them to reside anymore. And then we'll go on with God in returnity in eternity to other worlds and do other fantastic things that he has designed for us. Now, I don't know what those fantastic things are, but I know if the Lord Jesus Christ is involved in it, it's going to be a fantastic thing. [00:22:58] So we are assured of that. [00:23:00] And that is the chart of the overview of human experience here. [00:23:05] We will have other charts and things that will give us different aspects of these things as we go along here. [00:23:11] So we're going to continue here in the beginning, you know, we have creation, you know, and then we're going to study what Adam and Eve did with that creation so that we can determine where we are and what, what they did wrong, how we can correct these things. Okay, now we're gonna go to Genesis 1:1. [00:23:33] In the beginning, the heavens and the earth were made. [00:23:39] We know that the word Genesis means beginning. [00:23:44] That's where we get the word genetics from. [00:23:47] And so most of the things that are important in the human life can be found in Genesis. You know, we have all the different things that we study with the law of sin and death and what happened to us to separate us from God. [00:24:01] We know we have the origin of the nations and how they came about, different languages, man made religion which happened. And that's been a constant problem from the beginning of time till now. [00:24:15] We have Abraham, who's referred to as the father of the physical people of God, the Jews upon the earth, as well as the father of the spiritual people on God, the chair of, on earth, the church. So we know that Abraham is a very, very important part of the human existence here. [00:24:34] So all these are things, are things that found in the book of Genesis. And all of these are very, very important things. Now we're going to go to the creation here and put God did in the first seven days of, of creation. [00:24:50] The first day God said, let there be light. [00:24:54] And there was light. So he separated light from the darkness. Now this was not the light sources. How do I know that? Because that's going to come later in this origin of creation here. And so it wasn't the physical light because there were no human beings at this time. So we didn't need to see. And God is a spirit, so we need to understand that here on the second day, he created the firmament. That means our atmosphere, the water from above to the water below. He created those things, the water Beneath. [00:25:30] And then on the third day, he created vegetation and trees and green grass and all that. [00:25:37] On the fourth day, God created the sun, the moon, the stars. Now these are the light sources that we referred to earlier. And also too, this proves that these were literal days because the grass that God created here could not live without sunshine. Well, some people say that there is the time between the creation of these things by a thousand years. Well, I doubt green grass and green trees would live without sunshine. [00:26:06] And so we can know that that's not true. [00:26:09] On the fourth day, God created the fish and the birds. [00:26:14] So that was a wonderful thing that God created. Okay. On the sixth day, God created the animals and he made man. [00:26:23] And the Word, those two words, those two things are separated in the word of God. [00:26:29] So a lot of people who believe that we derive from monkeys or we, you know, what do they call it when we arrive from something else and became human beings. So that dispels all evolution. This dispels evolution. He created the animals and he also created man. [00:26:48] So we don't have to look very, very much farther than our Bible to know what we should believe. [00:26:55] This is Genesis 1:31. And God saw everything that he had made. And behold, it was very good. [00:27:02] And so in the evening and the morning was the. Was the sixth day. And so the reason that's there is because we know that Israel or the Jews generally separate their days with the evening is the beginning of the day. So they. We look at in the morning as the beginning of our day in the west and in America in different places. But they looked at the, the beginning of the day as the evening as the first part, and the morning was the second part. And so that's the reason that stated that way. And this is what it said. Genesis chapter two, verses two through three. [00:27:38] And on the seventh day, God ended his work which he has made. And he rested on the seventh day from all the work which he has made. And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it he had rested from all the work that God had made. And so he chose the seventh day as a day of rest. He sanctified it as the day of rest. [00:28:02] And, and that is was known as the Sabbath day throughout the Bible. But I have a question here. [00:28:11] Does God get tired? [00:28:13] Well, the answer is found in Psalms 121, chapter 121, verse 4. It says, he that keepeth Israel, referring to the Lord, will never sleep nor slumber. [00:28:26] Well, what does this mean? I bring this up because this is a type and shadow of a New Testament reality that we enjoy today. [00:28:34] And when we get to the New Testament in our studies, that this is a continuation. So when we get there, so that we can understand this, we will cover this in detail, you know, to give you. Just give you something to rest on. As of now, in the Old Testament, a man was picking up sticks on the Sabbath and God instructed them to deal with him, punish him. In the New Testament, Jesus told the man to pick up his bed and walk. Well, there's a difference. Jesus seemed to break the Sabbath day if the Sabbath day should be upheld the way it was in the Old Testament. Now I give you that something to study until we get there. [00:29:14] Okay, we're gonna go now to Genesis 1, chapter 1, verse 27. [00:29:19] So God created man in his own image. In the image of God created he himself. Male and female created he them. [00:29:30] So Adam and evil, Adam and Eve were both creations of God, and God refers to them in different places. By the way, sons of God. Now, in this case, son does not denote gender. [00:29:41] So Adam and Eve were both sons of God in this instance. So just so you know that, so when you see the reference to that, it's not referring to male gender as it relates to sons of God, because they both were sons of God. [00:29:56] So this was a physical. [00:30:00] A special relationship with Adam. He were physical beings, but they walked with the spirit of God. And this is a special relationship that God created with them. God wanted a family. [00:30:13] You know, he wanted children. He wanted his children to look like him. [00:30:18] And so, so, you know, I heard great man of God say one time that it's amazing when we tell people that, is that your son, is that your dad? They look just like you. [00:30:33] And you get a smile when people retail people that, because that's a compliment for them. So why wouldn't God want this compliment for the. The beings that he created and called them his children? [00:30:44] I had a. [00:30:45] A woman who was a geneticist, and she worked at. At the university near where I work. And she came into the shop one day and. [00:30:56] And she would talk about her work and different things like that. And one, one day she would get to talking about how people look and if they look like their parents or not. And she went into this long conversation about how sometimes children don't look like their parents. Sometimes they look like a distant relative or something that's in their gene pool from a long time ago. And she went on and on and on and on. What was funny about that, when she got to the end of all that Talk. [00:31:26] She said, well, sometimes if a person looks like the mailman, that's probably his dad and just moved on. And it was interesting. She had me in that. And then at the end of it it turned into a funny statement that she made. So. But in this case, the sons of God, God wanted his children to look like him. [00:31:47] I'm going to give you the lineage of Jesus. Now we know the lineage of Jesus goes travels for, from his point of view 4,000 years back. So we just going to go back to the end of it because it goes from Jesus all the way to him. But we don't want to read all that. We'll just go from this. [00:32:01] This is Luke, chapter three, verse 38, which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God. [00:32:16] So this is letting us know that Adam was the son of God. And we're going to learn that he lost his sonship somehow. [00:32:24] And so we're going to get there in these studies here and cover them in detail in different places because that's a very, very important thing. [00:32:33] I had a situation one time where someone said to me that they didn't know why we need a savior. [00:32:39] Well, very, very shortly in this Bible study we'll find out why and why it took so long and how God works so hard to get us back into that relationship of sonship with him. And that is why we need to save you with that. The origin of marriage this is Genesis chapter 2, verses 18 and 24. [00:33:00] And the Lord God said, it is not good for a man to be alone. [00:33:05] I will make him a help meet for him. Verse 24. Therefore the man shall leave his father and his mother shall cleave unto his wife and they shall become one flesh. [00:33:18] So we know that marriage is not some man made institution that we have the authority to change. [00:33:24] God told us what marriage was. A man should cleave with his wife. That's a man and a woman and they will become one flesh. And so that tells us that so man marriage is not a man made origin thing, but that is a God ordained relationship and position that we have with each other and with him. [00:33:48] And so that is a very, very important thing. Man was created innocent. [00:33:54] That was the dispensation that Adam and Eve lived under was innocence. [00:33:58] This is Genesis, chapter 2, verses 25. [00:34:01] And they were both naked, the man and his wife and were not ashamed really, they didn't know they were naked. And so they walked around before the Lord with the Lord and they were naked and everything was all right. [00:34:17] And so it was an amazing situation Here I used the word dispensation there. [00:34:24] Dispensations is different periods of time when God required different acts of obedience from someone to maintain a relationship with him. That's what the dispensation definition is. And they all, they all were on obedience test involved. [00:34:43] God is not looking for somebody that a slave. He's looking for someone who is willing to obey his word and do what he say because they love him. [00:34:52] That's what God is looking for. That's the difference between when people can understand the word of God or not. If you look at this as some type of bondage, serving God is a bondage situation, then you're not going to go very far because your relationship will only be surface level. And it really, it can't be a relationship because a relationship is deeper than that. [00:35:15] This is Deuteronomy, chapter 30, verse 19. Now this is Moses referring to turn to what is about to happen in our story to Adam and Eve here. And he's explaining to the people of his time what happened to them. It says, I call heaven and earth to record this day against you that I sit before you. Life and death, blessing and cursing. Choose life that both of you and your seed shall live. [00:35:48] So what they do, God is making a covenant with these people. What they do is not only going to affect Adam and Eve, but your children also. [00:35:57] What you do is going to affect them. And so if you plunge yourself in guilt and disobedience, they it that same the benefit or the punishment of that thing is going to affect them as well. [00:36:13] And that's what that scripture is saying to us there. [00:36:16] And so there's a difference that God placed between man and some animal or something. God had a relationship with us. He gave us the opportunity to be obedient, to make a decision that he tells you what's right so that you can do what's right. But he's not going to make you do it. You're going to have to come to that conclusion on your own. [00:36:38] And so an animal, there's no choice there. You know, I have a lot of people sometimes ask me, rich, do you think our pets will be in heaven with us? [00:36:48] And you know, the Bible doesn't say much about that. I say, well, we'll come back with Jesus Christ on horses. So we know horses will be there. Maybe dogs will be there too, I don't know. But we have a deep love for our pets sometimes. And sometimes in many people's lives. A pet is the best friend you got. [00:37:07] So, you know, a lot of people ask that question. I don't have the answer to that. [00:37:12] Abraham, you know, when I say this, we all have choices to make, Abraham. [00:37:19] This is the land that I'm going to promise you and your descendants forever. [00:37:24] All of his descendants had to believe that and do things to show what they believe. [00:37:29] Because if I say I believe something, there's not a corresponding action according to God. I don't believe God. We don't believe it. [00:37:39] And we'll learn more about that because the definition of that is very, very plain in, in these studies when we get there in the time of Moses, Moses, this is the law. [00:37:50] Y' all obey the outlines of the law as best you can. [00:37:54] Well, you got to do the best you can to obey the law. That was their dispensation. [00:37:59] Then we get to John the Baptist. John the Baptist taught another thing. He said, repent and believe on the one which was to come. [00:38:08] So when John the Baptist first started preaching this, he didn't know his own cousin he was preaching about. [00:38:12] And so we'll learn about that. And I say his own cousin. But we'll have to understand that that was Jesus, cousin, was John the Baptist on his mother's side? Of course. [00:38:22] And so he said, you know, in order to be saved in this short dispensation, you must repent and believe on the one which was to come. And so who is going to come, John? Well, he said, I don't know yet. But the God, God showed me who it was. He said, the one that the Holy Ghost will descend from heaven like a dove, land on him and stay on him. That's who you're preaching about. And then one day that happened. He saw what God had described, prophesied to him. And he then he knew who it was. He told Jesus, I didn't know it was you. [00:38:56] And so we'll get it. That's going to be very exciting when we get to that part as well. [00:38:59] So all of these are examples of different dispensations that require us to have an obedience. So God is not looking for someone he's going to have to coerce into being a part of his family. He wants you to obey, know that he loves you and be obedient to his word. [00:39:17] And so the first, the Bible says the first Adam disobeyed and the second Adam obeyed. And Jesus is known as the second Adam. He's called many, many different things. He's all. Jesus is also called the second Adam, because he came to undo all the damage that was done by Adam. We're going to see it shortly. This is Romans, chapter 5, verse 19. [00:39:42] For as many I'm sorry for as by one man's disobedience, many are made sinners, so by the obedience of one, many shall be made righteous. [00:39:55] So one man caused the uprising of a man rebelling against God, and another man, Adam, will come and bring submission, worship, reconciliation, sonship, and all those things back to us. And that was the purpose of Jesus as our kinsman, Redeemer also, too. [00:40:19] We will, since we're learning about the Word of God. And you'll hear me go to different scriptures. Now, we hadn't gotten to some of these scriptures yet because we're early on in this study, but the Bible tells us that we studied the Word of God line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little, there a little. [00:40:38] So it requires study and study all through the Bible to understand what God is saying to us. [00:40:44] And so when you see me go to a different scripture to, to for the content and the context of what I'm talking about, that's the reason, that's the Bible gives us that as a way to be able to maneuver through this, to see what God is saying to us. [00:41:01] So Jesus came and undid all the damage that was done by the first Adam, which is certainly a fantastic thing here. [00:41:09] I'm going to go to another scripture here and talk about the reason why we're in the predictable end. And Adam and Eve, their disobedience put us in that predicament. This is Ezekiel, chapter 18, verse 4. [00:41:25] It says, the soul that sinneth, it shall die. [00:41:29] And that is not just a type and shadow. That's going to change in the New Testament where we live, because the same law exists in the New Testament that is a truly perpetual law that rules mankind. As long as there's a human being on earth, this rule would apply in the New testament. Verse chapter 6, verse 23 says, for the wages of sin is death. [00:41:53] So the same thing is just the same law said in a different way. It's what that is here. [00:42:00] And so this is the law that rules mankind. And we learned from Adam and Eve, when they sin, they were ruled by this law, as well as their children, who had nothing to do with the breaking of the law. But they still were affected by this law that rules mankind, just like amity themselves were. [00:42:21] And so this is a truly perpetual law. [00:42:24] And so what we learned when Jesus came, this is Romans, chapter 8 verse 2. This is what Jesus gave us the answer to so we didn't have to live under the old law anymore. This is what cures the old law in us. If we are born again Christians like the Bible says we should be. [00:42:44] This is Romans 8:2. For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. This is what set me free from the law of sin and death. We had the emancipation proclamation in 1865 which set some of us free from slavery in this country where this is the law that sets us free from the law that rule mankind for 6,000 years so that we can understand that and what this means here. [00:43:18] So the law, sin and death ruled man for 4,000 years. [00:43:23] Okay? The law continues to rule mankind unless we take part in the new birth experience. [00:43:28] So you can't get good enough to get God on your own. I'm a good person. That does not work here. So we have to have the new birth experience so that we can not be ruled by the law of sin and death. The soul that's in he shall die or that person shall die when we are born again. [00:43:48] We are ruled by the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus so that we don't have to be ruled by the law of sin and death anymore. And so we're going to be back right after this message.
