[00:00:40] Hello everybody. Welcome to an Amazing Thing. Thank you for joining me. This is our end of the week show where we answer the questions that you submitted to us. And you can submit those questions to us one of three ways.

[00:01:31] Okay, let's go ahead and begin. And this first question is Jerome, and he's calling from Sanitobia, Mississippi.
[00:01:39] You know, there used to be a country western star that came from Sanitoba, Mississippi.
[00:01:47] OB McClinton. My parents used to love him.
[00:01:50] Anyway, Jerome is asking, explain what you meant on how traditions and long held beliefs stop us from learning the word of God.
[00:02:00] Well, when those things get in the way and block us from being able to understand things, I'll give you an example. This is found in John, chapter 7, verses 51 through 53. And this in this text, the. The Pharisees are accusing Jesus of breaking the law.
[00:02:20] And in this scenario, one of the Pharisees who had an honest heart, named Nicodemus, he said that doesn't our law require us to hear from someone before we condemn them?
[00:02:37] And then the other Pharisees who were against Jesus answered and say their answer was study the Word. No prophet ever came from Galilee, which is where Jesus came from.
[00:02:52] Study the word, and there's no prophecy that came from there. So in their tradition, because no prophet had ever come from Galilee, meant to them that no prophet could ever come from Galilee.
[00:03:04] Which is a tradition that they had is obviously wrong because Jesus was there.
[00:03:10] And so their tradition stopped him from understanding who Jesus was, what he came to do. And so they totally missed it, which is a devastating thing, especially with, with so many of the people of Israel looking to those men for salvation, the word of God and all those things. So that is how. That's one way of how that is. And hopefully that shows you what I meant by that. If not, ask another question.
[00:03:37] Next question comes from Carol. She's emailing us from Duncanville, Texas.
[00:03:42] People say that there are angels all around us. How can we know that this is true when we can't see them?
[00:03:49] Well, in Second Kings, chapter six, verses around 15 or so, Elijah asked the Lord to open the eyes of the other servant that was there to show him so that he could see the things that God had put around them. And so God opened his eyes and he could see all the chariots and angels and things that were encamped about him that he couldn't see before.
[00:04:14] So this tells me that God would have to open our eyes to see that. And when we have so much of the Word today and so much, so many other things, do we really need to see that when we have the written word?
[00:04:27] Also in Hebrews, chapter 13, verse 3, Be not forgetful to entertain strangers.
[00:04:38] Thereby some has entertained angels unawares. So this is saying that, you know, when we neglect to show kindness to people, a lot of times we're entertaining angels disguised as human beings that we don't recognize them.
[00:04:54] So we have to be careful of how we present ourselves as we meet people. And a lot of times too, we build an image of ourselves so we can ward away all kinds of evil and different things that we don't want to be bothered with. And so a lot of times that becomes how we present ourselves. We have to be careful not to allow that to happen to us. And if someone comes to me and with something I don't want, the Bible said, let my no be no. I don't want none of that. And so I can do it that way instead of being so hard and so presenting myself in a way that I can't be approached. So that's certainly something that I would think about and not show myself, because we are entertaining angels, sometimes unawares, according to this scripture. Our next question comes from Mickey. He's emailing us from San Antonio. Should we pray aloud or should we pray silent prayers?
[00:05:58] My answer would be aloud in some cases, silent prayers. In other cases. We know that Jesus prayed aloud when he prayed. His apostles heard him pray, and they were in awe of how he prayed and asked them to show us how to pray, because obviously he was praying in a way that they had had never heard anybody pray before. And so in Matthew, chapter six, Jesus does that. In some cases, we have to pray a silent prayer. If Our praise and worship and prayers is interfering with a service that we're in or, or some other way that we're interfering with. God is doing in the preferred way through preaching and different things. And so we have to be. Be sure that we're not a disruption, what we are doing here.
[00:06:48] So we know the spoken word is a powerful thing. And God spoke the world into existence, so we know that that's good too. And also we find that the apostle Paul talking to In First Corinthians, chapter 14, he's telling the people who were praying in an unknown tongue, if there not be an interpreter present, then, you know, go, let it go forth by two or three, then stop. Obviously that is something that is spoken aloud, or there would be no need for him to tell the people to stop because there was no interpreter present.
[00:07:21] Now we'll have to continue with some teaching on that specific thing because there's so much misunderstanding when it comes to that aspect of prayer. And, and so we need to certainly learn a lot more about that. But I would say loud allowed in most cases, unless it would be a disruption to a service or someone praying, what we're doing is a disruption to them, then we should go silent at that point. And so thank you, Mickey, for that. That's a wonderful present question. And we will go farther and deeper into the subject matter when we get to the lessons, especially, you know, we had our midweek lessons that's a continuous study. So we'll have to get to a certain place that's talking about that and then we'll expound on that more as we go along.
[00:08:10] Our next question is Robert. He's calling from Madison, Wisconsin. Is it true that hell is not made for human beings?
[00:08:19] Well, technically that would be true, but let me explain that.
[00:08:25] After Satan and one third of his angels in heaven rebelled, there had to be a place to contain them. So God had to make a place to contain them. And this is a place that, that spiritual beings will be contained in at a certain point. Now, the Bible teaches that every human being has two bodies, a body that is made for physical existence. So, you know, our physical existence usually 60, 70, 80 years. Now, we know we have some people who live to be a hundred sometimes, but that's an abnormal thing, even as lifespans have become longer and longer than they than they have been in recent past.
[00:09:07] But we do know that our physical bodies are for a spirit of physical time here on Earth. And then we have a spiritual body that at a certain time will go on to eternity in that spiritual form. So, so at that time there will be no more humans on earth. So that's why I say technically, because everybody who's cast into hell through obed disobedience and they're not wanting to follow the rules of God and love the kingdom of God, then they will be put into hell, but in a spiritual form at that time.
[00:09:47] So that is what that would mean. And that's why I say technically.
[00:09:51] And so at the time of judgment, we know that we'll be in that second body, which is a spiritual body.
[00:10:00] And so we, that's the time when people will be cast into their eternal destination.
[00:10:06] And second Peter chapter three, verse nine says that it's not God's will that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Well, that means in the case of most of the people in the world, both past and present, God's will is mostly not being done.
[00:10:28] So we know that, that, you know, when you think about it from that point of view, most of the world and the world from that existed in previous times perished, are perishing because of disobedience.
[00:10:41] And that's why we have shows like this, to help us to know this. That's the question that I can answer.
[00:10:47] And Jesus spoke more about hell than anybody else in the Bible, saying, don't go there, avoid this place.
[00:10:53] So it certainly is a terrible, terrible thing. And I don't like talking about it, but it's certainly something that we should talk about because so much of the world is perishing and they're perishing against God's will. God is not sending you there. You choosing to go through disobedience and not adhering to the word of God.
[00:11:13] And so that's an important thing.
[00:11:15] Our next question comes from Kristen. She's emailing us from Robbins, Illinois.
[00:11:21] Why do you think God allows people to die without accomplishing their dreams?
[00:11:26] Well, you know, we have dreams that we have for ourselves and they may not be God ordained dreams, or maybe we may be dreaming of things that we desire that will separate us from God and separate us from our ability to hear him for whatever reason.
[00:11:47] Matthew chapter 6, verse 33. But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.
[00:11:58] When we put the spiritual things of God first, our lives tend to fall in order to what God would have us to believe and do.
[00:12:08] And most of those desires that we'll have once we set our course straight for God's kingdom will be godly desires that he'll Put in our heart so we'll learn to desire the right things in our lives, you know, for his purpose for us that are godly desires and not just worldly desires. Because we are born in sin and shapen in iniquity. So we are here on this earth. Earth has shaped what we call success. What is doing good? You know, you hear people say in movies and things he was the local boy who made good because he accomplished some monetary or something of that nature, fame or something. But we need to learn to see what God's words is about this thing and desire godly things.
[00:12:56] So when our personal desires decrease, God's spiritual desires will increase.
[00:13:04] As John the Baptist said, I must decrease, he must increase.
[00:13:09] And that is a requirement. That's what true happiness is. And a lot of people don't think that what God wants for them is something that's going to make them happy. But when you say that, you're referring to making your flesh happy and that sort of thing. So unfortunately, so few are willing to lose their lives so that they can gain their lives. And that is something that we have to think about and learn to do.
[00:13:32] Our next question comes from Theo. He's calling from Dallas, Texas. When we donate items to so called Christian charitable organizations, do you think we need to be sure they're doing Christian things with those donations?
[00:13:47] Well, I certainly do my due diligence to make sure that that's the case.
[00:13:53] As much as I can.
[00:13:55] I'm not going to give something or give money or something to something that is not promoting God's will or something that's going against God's word. I do think that, you know, certain things fall under the Bible. Bible says give to all those who, who ask of us. Now I certainly wouldn't think that that would mean to give to some thinking that was blatantly against God's word.
[00:14:21] So we wouldn't want to do that. And a lot of those organizations that will, you know, that we, that are, you know, that we donate to, they'll, they'll make it easy. They'll pick up stuff from your house and they'll say set it out on your porch with, in this bag on a certain day, you know, and you said items. So you know, when we think about that, you know, if I'm checking on every little batter I give an old suit to or something that comes out of my garage and I'm checking on him, that's more control over an item in my garage and I want to have.
[00:14:52] So I think we do our due Diligence, but we don't have to go overboard with it. And that would be my. My answer to that. And, you know, that's pretty much my view on it.
[00:15:04] Okay, this is a question from Carlos. He's emailing from Grand Prairie, Texas. Do you think the Shroud of Turin is real?
[00:15:15] Well, I've heard this question so many times. I'm so different. Many different people.
[00:15:20] I personally don't believe that that's real for several reasons.
[00:15:24] And the first reason would be in Exodus, chapter 20, verse 4, that says, Thou shalt not make any graven image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above or in the earth beneath, or in the water that is under the earth.
[00:15:40] So this scripture is pretty open and shut to me. God certainly wouldn't, would not violate his own word to show us something like that. And secondly, we know that First Corinthians 11:14 says this. Does not even nature teach you that if a man has long hair, is a shame unto them? Now we have that image that has been circulated for hundreds of years that people believe it's Jesus, but Jesus never looked like that.
[00:16:09] This picture in that, when you look at that Shroud of Turin, this person has long hair, which looks like to me, a couple of months of growth.
[00:16:18] So we can't say that he just couldn't make it to get it cut very, very quickly. And at the time of Jesus crucifixion, the high priest men and the Roman soldiers only had control of Jesus a day of about a day.
[00:16:34] So even if he couldn't, if he was out and about preaching or whatever, and couldn't make it to the barbershop appointment, it still wouldn't be that long as it's shown in the Shroud of Turin here. So, and also the third reason would be in John chapter 20, verse 6 and 7.
[00:16:53] It's talking about when they discovered Jesus was gone from the sepulcher where he was buried. Then cometh Peter following him, following John, and went into the septica and seeing the linen clothes lie, and the napkin that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.
[00:17:16] So this clearly tells us that there were more. There was more than one piece that wrapped Jesus's body in, so that would disannul to the Shroud of Turin. That's one piece that they have there. So, and God would not have us believe in untrue things, even if it seems to honor God or be harmless in some way. We know that John 8:32 says we shall know the truth and the truth will make us free.
[00:17:47] Well, the truth is something that the Lord intended for us to know.
[00:17:52] So these truths, you know, the truth frees us from darkness, however harmless that darkness thing seems to be. And so we think about the Shroud of Turin. We think about how, you know, how harmless is that to. We just think about her goodness of Jesus and all that kind of thing. Jesus didn't give us that to honor him with. And a lot of times we as human beings throughout history has worshiped things that God used. And we know the snake that Moses used on the pole, it had to be destroyed because people began to worship that. The Ark of the Covenant has been missing for hundreds of years.
[00:18:35] And so obviously these are some things that we tend to look through the item versus what God said about it. And so that's what I would say. I don't believe that it's real. And that may be something that we have to, you know, have to start to look at all the things that in our belief systems.
[00:18:57] This question is from Bridget from emailing from Memphis, Tennessee. Can you explain why Jesus said the wicked always look for a sign?
[00:19:08] Yes. The Sadducees and Pharisees came to Jesus and asked him to show us a sign from heaven that we might believe.
[00:19:17] Well, Jesus said in Matthew 16:4, Jesus said, the wicked and adulteress seeketh after a sign.
[00:19:26] And there will be no sign given unto it except the sign of the prophet Jonas that he would be in. It would be the sign of him being in the belly of the whale. Three days and three nights. So shall the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth. Three days and three nights. That would be the only sign in Romans 14:23. This, it tells us this. The Bible tells us whatsoever not of faith is sin.
[00:19:52] Well, we know that God gives us a measure of faith. And Jesus fulfilled so many other things that, that they had access to that he would fulfill. They look, he fulfilled them all.
[00:20:05] Well, they wanted some specific proof of that. And so obviously, you know, they, they needed something in addition to the measure of faith that God gives us.
[00:20:16] So, you know, we have to remember too that the first step toward God is faith.
[00:20:23] And you know, and without faith, it's impossible for us to please God. So these people just, their hearts weren't right. They wanted a sign to specifically to, to be able to do it. And the Bible says whatever is not a faith of sin. And we know from that statement that if, if I have to have proof of everything, if I'm getting Proof, then there's no need for me to have faith.
[00:20:50] If there's proof here, you know, that means I'm asking God to prove His Word to me in addition to His Word. And so that's a terrible place for us to be.
[00:21:00] So we certainly don't want to be in a position where we always looking for proof over something in order to know that God's Word is true. And that's, that's one way we need to look at that and be sure that what we're doing is God appreciates that and it's something that we should be doing. This question is from Jordan, calling from St. Paul, Minnesota.
[00:21:24] What does type and shadow of reality mean? I've heard many people say that. I don't know what it means.
[00:21:33] I would say that a type and shadow is a vague facsimile or representation of what the reality of God's Word is.
[00:21:44] Sometimes in God's Word, the representation or the type and shadow closely resembles the thing. Sometimes it doesn't.
[00:21:52] So through the study of God's Word, through our experiences and the teachings of God called ministers, we can learn how to discern that. But it's gonna.
[00:22:03] We need to start building a relationship with God and God will open those things up to us as we mature and grow. But an example would be Israel coming out of bondage would be a type and shadow of a New Testament Christian coming out of a life of sin and entering into a Christian life.
[00:22:23] So we know that the Old Testament was a physical kingdom and it had a type and shadow of the spiritual reality.
[00:22:31] It's not the actual thing, but it's a representation of the thing.
[00:22:36] And so another one would be leaving a sinful things behind and learning to live within the newfound fulfilled relationship that God has. You know, the Old Testament was full of things that was type and shadow. Egypt was a type and shadow in the Old Testament of our reality of the world.
[00:22:58] You know, in, in Egypt, they were in bondage to something. Well, that bondage that they were into any in submitted to in Egypt represented a sinful life in the time that we live.
[00:23:10] And those things that we are bondage to is in.
[00:23:14] And so we have to think about it from that point of view. And so when we study the Word of God and obey His Word, we start to build that relationship with him and he reveals all things that may have not have been understood to us before.
[00:23:29] And that's where our understanding begins. So continue with us here and continue to study the Word and we will get to those things and, and this won't be the only occasion we have to address this. And so especially where we are right now in our midweek lessons. We're, we're. A lot of those things are coming up, so be sure and subscribe to our show.

[00:24:08] Our next question comes from M. Tipperillo from Chicago, Illinois. Do you believe that the mentally challenged community that we see growing today are demon possessed people?
[00:24:24] Well, I don't think that all of them are, but certainly some of them are.
[00:24:29] You know, I'm sure that the mental health care professionals that encounter these things on a constant basis probably, probably don't know. They've labeled some things with a title. I'm sure that, you know, in reality would be demonic, you know, possession and so, and not all demons appear to be lunatics. You know, a lot of times we see somebody just create that's challenged, that looks crazy to us. This is. Break it down. That's what it looks like to us.
[00:25:03] We sometimes associate only that with, with demonic possession. But we have to realize too that not all demonic representation in the Bible look like that. Like for instance, in, in Acts, chapter 16, verses 16 through 18, the apostle Paul cast out a demon of a follower who was following behind them, telling the people, listen to these men. These men are here to represent Jesus. Listen to them. And then the apostle Paul turned around and cast a demon out of her.
[00:25:40] Well, she probably appeared to be a righteous person to all the people who knew her and saw her before the apostle Paul did that.
[00:25:51] So we would know that from that description.
[00:25:56] That would show us that demoniacs look differently.
[00:26:00] And one of our frequent characterization characterizations of a demon possessed person would be nudity.
[00:26:08] You know, most of the time, not all the time, but a lot of the times when we saw people in the Bible who were had demons, they were naked folks. Like for instance In Mark chapter 5, Jesus had cast out the demons out of the man legion and cast them into the pigs. And then when the people came and saw the man who they knew had the demon, they saw him sitting with Jesus clothed and in his right mind.
[00:26:42] So for the scripture to tell us that he was clothed and in his right mind, which had to tell us that he was naked before.
[00:26:50] So a lot of times we see that associated with demonic activity now in our society today, everybody have naked. So that certainly would eliminate this aspect of discerning a demoniac spirit in somebody especially. We just showed that they could look a lot of different ways. So that's one of the ways that they people knew that they were demoniacs in the Old in the Old and the New Testament, especially during the time of Jesus.
[00:27:19] Well, that is, that's a different note right there.
