[00:00:02] I'm Rich Young iii. And this is an amazing thing. [00:00:17] I am here to facilitate learning the Word of God on a fundamental level. [00:00:24] So join me and let's grow together and build a relationship with our Creator. [00:00:29] And that starts now. [00:00:40] Hello everyone, and welcome to an Amazing Thing. Thank you for joining me today. This is our midweek show where it's a continual lesson. [00:00:49] This is our third lesson of our series, learning the Word of God. And we're going to finish up with the in the beginning, the first and second lessons in the beginning, part one and two. This will be partially in the beginning, part three, along with God cultivating a relationship with man. [00:01:08] And so we will continue where we left off. The last lesson we talked about the New Testament, how it's broken down, how it's characterized and how many books are there. [00:01:20] And so we're going to continue from there. This lesson we're going to talk about. We're going to begin with the law of sin and death, which we covered at the end of last week's lesson. But the law of sin and death is found in Ezekiel, chapter 18, verse 4, where it says, the soul that sinneth, it shall die. [00:01:42] Also in the New Testament that that law that rules mankind is there. In Romans 6:23, it says, the wages of sin is death, and as long as there is a human being on the face of the earth, that law will apply. [00:01:58] And so that law continued from Adam and Eve throughout time until Jesus came and brought a cure for that, if we take part of it. And that cure is found in Romans, chapter 8, verse 2. [00:02:11] For the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. And so that law frees us from the soul that sinned, it shall die if we take part in it. And so that's going to be found. We're going to find that in lessons a few lessons from now, but that'll give us something to hang our hat on until we get there, because a lot of times we can't really, really learn why we need the cure or why we need a Savior if we don't know how we got in that predicament or what caused our problem. [00:02:48] Okay, now we're going to begin here with the to the temptation. [00:02:53] We're going to start in Genesis, chapter three, verse one. It says now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, yea, hath God said, ye shall not eat of every tree in the garden. [00:03:13] Satan has come to confuse and distort God's word. And he did it through an animal that was the most subtle of all animals. That was the characteristics of the certain serpent. Sort of like a pimp waiting in the bus station in New York City for some girl from middle America to get off the bus and look confused. He's there with some type of distortion to deceive somebody. [00:03:38] And that is. Is a kind of a crude way to describe it. But nonetheless, that is how we can interpret this. And I think we all can get a sense of what that means. This is Genesis, chapter three, verse one through five. [00:03:51] And the woman said unto the serpent, well, I'm gonna stop there. That. See, that's the first mistake that human beings make. We stop to listen to what Satan has to say. [00:04:01] And the woman said unto the serpent, we may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden, but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ye shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it. [00:04:17] So God has reiterated this so precisely and so much so for her to know, don't do this. He gave it to her in probably several different ways. Don't eat it. Don't. Just don't even touch it. Stay away from it, you know, much like we do when we see a toddler over near the electrical outlet with a spoon or something, you know, we stay away from there, you know. And so God certainly has shown them how dangerous this tree of the knowledge of good and evil is. [00:04:49] And so Eve knew that when God said this, she added something to it. So she's reiterated what God has reiterated to her. [00:04:58] Well, now Satan is about to cast out on what. On this whole thing. Again, this is Genesis, chapter three, verse four. And the serpent said to the woman, ye shall not surely die. [00:05:13] So Satan only added one word to it, shall not surely die. And so it changed the whole meaning of the sentence by him adding that one word. And so we should not allow the world. Satan is synonymous here with the world to cause us to influence something we know God said don't do. And that's something that is on a continual basis and probably every aspect of the world from this time until now, every time we turn on the television or. Or hear about anything, there's some sin and some things that God told us to do involved in it. And so we should not allow the world or any friends or any aspect of life to influence us to do what God has told us not to do. And so Satan is saying that God's commandment is somehow denying us, are depriving us of something that we need. And so this is Genesis, chapter 3, verse 5. [00:06:15] For God knows that in the day thou eat thereof, your eyes will be open and you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And so Satan is trying to sentence her to eternal damnation because that's what the consequences of being disobedient to the word of God is. It is damnation. And so, and it's that damnation still exists today. And so there are three categories of temptation that we're going to learn here. This is first, John, chapter two, verse 16. [00:06:49] For all that's in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life is not of the Father, but of the world. [00:07:01] And so this is not something that is righteous of God. This is something that Satan and the world has told us there's something we can do and get away with it. And it's, it's, it's, you know, it's, it's. That's what it is. So the term world is synonymous with Satan, selfishness, and the things of the world here. And also it needs to be said that you'll find that we'll go to different scriptures throughout the Bible because Isaiah 28:10 tells us that the way we find out what God's word mean as it relates to context, line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little, there a little. [00:07:45] So we're gonna have to search some and build a relationship with God in order to be able to answer the questions of life and what we should do and what we should not do. And that's what we're doing here. So you see me going to a different scripture to help me explain what we're talking about in the context of what we're talking about here. [00:08:04] We're going to continue. [00:08:06] This is Genesis, chapter three, verse six, in Eve's the temptation. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food and was pleasant to the eye, and the tree was desired to make one wise, she took the fruit of it thereof, and did eat, and gave also to her husband with her, and he did eat. [00:08:29] Now, I've heard a lot of people talk about how when she says gave to her husband with her, and that somehow suggests that Adam was standing there listening to this. I don't believe he was, and it doesn't really matter, but all this means to me is she ate of it and gave him some too. And so. And he did ate it. So it doesn't relinquish him from what he's doing. God still told him, don't eat off this fruit. So it really doesn't matter. But I hear a lot of people talk about that from time to time, and I wanted to add my understanding to it. [00:09:02] So let's look at the three temptation things and. And see if what Satan told her corresponds to that. [00:09:15] Satan said is showed her is good for food. [00:09:18] That's the lust of the flesh. [00:09:21] It was pleasant to the eye. That's the lust of the eyes. [00:09:25] Desire to make one wise the pride of life. [00:09:29] So it fits all of the three categories of temptation. [00:09:34] So every time we are tempted of something that goes against God's word, it will be in shades or nuances of three. These three categories. Lust of the flesh, lust of the eye, or the pride of life. [00:09:48] And so now sin has entered into the human race. [00:09:51] This is Romans, chapter 5, verse 12. [00:09:54] Where for by as one man, sin entered into the world. And death by sin. And so death passed upon all men. For all men have sinned. Now, that seems like that's not fair. This is saying that mankind is contaminated with sin because of what one man did. [00:10:15] Well, Adam and Eve were the only two people on the earth. God made a covenant with Adam. You are the ones who are going to everything that was named on the earth that was called whatever it was. You were the one who named it and called it that. Well, he has dominion. God has a covenant with Abram, gave Abram, I'm sorry, had a covenant with Adam and gave Adam dominion. [00:10:38] So now Adam has the dominion. And what he did affects all of us. [00:10:43] So we can't say that, you know, we didn't do anything just simply because Adam is our ancestor. You are filled with sin. [00:10:52] It's sort of like if you were riding in the car with some of your friends and one of them went and robbed the bank. [00:10:57] And the cops catch y' all, everybody in that car going to prison. You know, he don't. The judicial system don't know that. You didn't know nothing about that. You was in the car. You going to jail. And so that's what this is from our point of view and the souls of mankind as it relates to what Adam did here. [00:11:17] And so now innocence, that is how we were created, that's been lost. [00:11:23] How do we lose it? Through disobedience. [00:11:25] And so this is Genesis, chapter three, verse seven and eight. [00:11:29] And the eyes of both were open, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together, and they made Aprons for themselves. [00:11:41] And they heard the voice of the Lord walking in the garden in the cool of the day. [00:11:47] And Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. Well, God came in the cool of the day like he had done every day to spend time with his children. Only something has changed here. [00:12:03] When you commit sin, guilt follows that guilt. [00:12:09] Now we have guilt. The byproduct of guilt is separation, shame, condemnation. All those things came as a result of them disobeying God. And now they're trying to cover up their negative. They were naked all the time, but they didn't know they were innocent. They were walking around in the way that God created them in. The relationship was still intact until the disobedience came in. [00:12:37] Now God is now going to kill an animal to cover their sin. Now we're going to read this and I'll explain what this, what's going on here. This is Genesis, chapter 23, verse 21. [00:12:50] On to Adam and his wife did the Lord make coats of skins to clothe them. [00:12:59] You know, God killed an animal, use the skins of the animal to make clothes for them. [00:13:03] Now that sin has entered into the situation, the garden, and you know where they live now, something's got to die. [00:13:11] Something has to die. And so that's what it was. So God used the skins of that to make them something to cover their shame. [00:13:19] And so God had to address two things here. He had to address their physical need, which is their shame, and their spiritual need, so they won't have to be separated from him, which is what death is from a spiritual perspective. [00:13:35] That's an amazing thing there. [00:13:37] So the scriptures tell us that the blood of the animal covers sin. [00:13:43] Okay, let's find out why. This is Hebrews chapter 9, verse 22. [00:13:48] And almost all things are by the law, purged with blood. [00:13:54] And without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin. [00:13:59] So you got to shed some blood in order to be able to blot out sin. [00:14:04] Leviticus 17:11 says this. For the life of the flesh is in the blood. [00:14:10] And I have given it you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls. [00:14:18] And it's the blood that makes it an atonement for the soul. [00:14:22] That's what makes an atonement. [00:14:26] Reparations, if you will, for the soul. [00:14:29] Now we know that the blood of the animal could not take the place of the blood of the human being. The blood of the human beings at the top of the, of the, the chain and then everything else subsequent is less than that. This is Genesis, chapter five, verse three. Now I'm going to read this just so because this is a scripture that lets us know what the relationship, how the relationship changed that God had initially started to what it is now. [00:14:57] And Adam lived 130 years and they got and got a son in his own likeness after his image and called his name Seth. And so Seth is a little ways down the road in his Bible study. But I want to read that scriptures to let us know that we don't look like God anymore. [00:15:19] God created us in his image, but something changed. Now we're not in his image. He after Amity's disobedience here. [00:15:26] And so Adam and Eve begets sons and daughters that look like them instead of looking like God's lack produces lack. [00:15:34] You know, had Adam and Eve been obedient to God and had children, the children would look just like God and so on and so forth. [00:15:42] So no longer in God's image or his likeness. And no more sons of God in the Old Testament at all, except except for prophecies about Jesus and talking about angels in the Old Testament. And so we know that the second Adam, Jesus is known as the second Adam came to restore that. [00:16:06] And that's in, in Hebrews chapter 2, verse 10. [00:16:10] For it became him for whom all things and by whom all things in bringing many sons unto glory to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. That's a prophecy that talks about Jesus and how through his death he's going to restore the things that Adam and Eve lost here now at the time of Adam and Eve. We know there are 4,000 years away from this because where they fail, it's going to take some time to get that to what we lost and get back to where we could resemble what God looks like. And we're lessons away from that. We're gonna get there and we'll be right back after this message. [00:17:03] Thank you all for being a part of an amazing thing. Thank you so much. [00:18:00] Okay, we're going to continue. Now, Adam and Eve are now going to make excuses for sinning, much like we all do. I didn't know it was gonna happen. I didn't know it. [00:18:15] This is found in Genesis chapter 3, verse 12 and 13. [00:18:18] Adam, the man said, the woman that thou gave to me, she gave me of the tree and I did eat it. [00:18:28] Okay, Adam, what happened? God is giving them a chance to repent over what they've done here. [00:18:36] Instead of Adam saying, lord, I know what you told me. I disobeyed and I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. [00:18:43] He makes an excuse and furthermore he passes the pushes the blame down the road. You know what, it was that woman that you gave me that made me do this. I would have never did it if it had to be for them. That's what he's saying. Okay, now there's no repentance there. [00:19:02] So he's standing by what he's. He, there's a woman you gave me, okay, now he's going to ask the woman the same thing. And the woman, what has thou done? And the woman said, the serpent beguiled me. He tricked me, you know, so that is her excuse. [00:19:18] So nobody is taking responsibility for the acts that they both done here. [00:19:23] And so we know that un repented sin always brings judgment. Anytime we have a sin, God is going to give us amount of time to repent over that. If you don't repent over that, admit it, apologize for it, and start off that the slate clean. God has no choice but to bring judgment. [00:19:44] We have nowadays where people try to make an excuse for sin and say, why would a loving God allow these things? Well, God is his word. [00:19:54] And his word has been the same throughout eternity. So he'll give us an opportunity to repeat, but when we won't. [00:20:01] Now his hands are tied. He has to bring judgment. And so that is what. What is going on here? [00:20:06] So now God is going to bring the judgment. And the first will start with the curse upon the woman. That's found in Genesis 3:16. [00:20:17] Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrows and thy conception. In sorrows thou shalt bring forth children, and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over you. [00:20:32] Well, he's gonna bring us pain through childbirth. Now we know that any woman who's gone through childbirth, as soon as she sees that baby, she's gonna be forget about the pain but there is pain nonetheless. And also these other things that. [00:20:48] That God talked about. You know, you're going to have to, you know, submit yourself unto your husband in a certain way. And a lot of times he's not going to treat you right. And all these different kinds of things. Now you have to deal with that. [00:21:01] That you never would have had to deal with if you had stayed in obedience to it in your covenant with him. Let's go now to the. To the sins. Curse upon the man. This is Genesis, chapter 3, verses 17 through 19. [00:21:17] And unto Adam he said, because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife and hast eaten of the tree of which I commanded thee, saying, thou shalt not eat of it. Curse is the ground for thy sake. In sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life. Thorns and thistles shall bring forth unto thee. And thou shalt eat the herbs of the field. [00:21:42] In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread till you return unto the ground out of which you were taken. For the dust thou art, and the dust thou shall return. [00:21:55] So now you gonna have to work and punch a time clock the rest of your life. [00:22:00] And now since you're gonna have to get your food yourself from the ground, not only are you gonna have to go out and harvest the fruit, but it's going to be weeds and crabgrass and all different kinds of things that you're going to have to get out of, or the herb is not going to produce any food. You can't just let it go. [00:22:21] You gonna have to weed that garden in order for it to put out the tomatoes or whatever it is that you're getting out of there. So now you're gonna have to work. [00:22:28] You got to punch a time clock all the days of your life, and the ground is going to be cursed. It's going to bring forth weeds and such. [00:22:36] Now, it's gonna be tough. It's gonna be tough, but I'm going to bring you through it. And that's just a part of what you have become now through your disobedience. [00:22:47] So since the now God is going to bring a curse upon the serpent now. And this is what he said here. [00:22:56] God said unto the serpent, because thou has done this, thou art cursed above cattle and every beast of the field. [00:23:03] And upon thy belly shall thou go, and the dust thou shalt thou eat all the days of your life. Obviously, the serpent was not. Was an upright animal before this time. [00:23:18] So God condemned him to crawl around now. So obviously it changed him from what he was before to what we know as the serpent today. And the Bible says that he's cursed among above every other kind of animal. You know, I don't care how brave a man claims to be. If he hears a rattlesnake or sees some other kind of extremely poisonous snake, he's gonna run. And got nothing to do with my courage. Look, that's a snake. And we can all run from a snake and have no embarrassment for that because of the curse that God brought on that animal. [00:23:54] So now let's continue to read and see what else happened here. Man is now going to be banished from the garden. The garden was obviously a wonderful place. And so now God's got to run you out of him. This is Genesis, chapter 3, verses 22 through 24. And the Lord said, behold, the man has become as one of us to know good and evil now, lest he put forth his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat of it and live forever. Therefore, the Lord God sent him from the. From the garden to till the ground from whence he was taken and drove. And so he drove out the man and placed at the east of it cherubims with flaming swords, which turned every way to keep the way of the Tree of Life. [00:24:45] Now, let's stop to take note of this. There's only two trees in the garden that have spiritual significance. [00:24:52] The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. God said, don't eat on that. And it also has the Tree of Life. God says freely of that. One, that's the good tree, and the other one is the bad tree. [00:25:04] So there's something that is very, very precious to God is choice. He gave us a choice. [00:25:12] He wants you to choose good. Let it be of your own decision to choose good. I told you this is good. Believe me and choose that. And so all this time, they have not even, you know, even thought about eating off the Tree of Life, which is the other tree that has a spiritual significance. I'm gonna read this. This is Galatians, chapter 5, verse 16. [00:25:37] It says, Walk in the spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Now, it's obvious that these people had never eaten off the. The Tree of Life. [00:25:49] And had they eaten off of it, they never would have thought about eating off the other tree. But they did. Now God has to take them out of here to keep them from eating from the law of the Tree of life, because if he does, they will live forever in their fallen state. [00:26:07] There will be no help for mankind so Adam has dominion over the earth. All their children and so forth are going to be of his lineage, looking like him. If I don't do something about this, mankind will be doomed and will never get back to what he was when I created him. And so that's what it is. And the judgment that God made comes with a promise. [00:26:33] Even when we find ourselves under God's judgment, there's always a bright spot at the end of it. If you come through this, do what I say, repent, and I'll come through it. If you've seen, I won't have to punish you. But if you'll come through it, there's a promise waiting on the other side of you. What do you tell Adam? If you do well, you'll be what he's going to tell one of Adam's sons. If you do well, you'll be accepted. We're going to find that out in a few minutes. [00:27:01] This is Genesis, chapter three, verse 15. [00:27:04] And I will put enmity, that's hatred between the. The seed of the woman and between thy seed. This is the what? He's talking to the serpent. And it shall bruise thy head. [00:27:15] And thou, you serpent, shall bruise his heel. [00:27:19] Well, it's talking about. This is a prophecy, talking about Messiah. [00:27:23] He's gonna bruise your head, sir. He's gonna take that dominion. You just tricked Satan out of the dominion that was given to him by me. [00:27:30] Now you run in this world in a fallen, dishonest way, but it's gonna come a time when this woman's seed is gonna bruise your head. He's gonna kill you or kill your ability to impart all of that negativity on the world. [00:27:47] And you're gonna, you gonna, you're gonna get some licks and you're gonna bruise his heel. [00:27:52] But that's just a little bruise. He's gonna bruise your head. And so we have something to look forward to. And that's the first prophecy of a messianic nature that shows us what the Messiah is going to do. And we are many, many lessons away from that. But we're going to get there. Stay with me. If some of these things seem like they are difficult to understand, go back and listen again and know that there will be some, some scriptures in the future to help clarify these things. [00:28:27] Now we're going to move on to cultivating a relationship between man and God. That's what we're going to move to now. So man's relationship with God started off very, very poorly because of what Adam do. We just got the reading of what Adam and Eve has done. [00:28:45] So it's such a wonderful thing that know that God can fix things that. That happen, things that we find ourselves mixed up in. [00:28:55] And that is a wonderful thing. Adam and Eve have two sons. We're going to go now to Genesis chapter four, verses one and two. [00:29:04] Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bear Cain and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord. [00:29:13] And she again bore another, his brother Abel. [00:29:18] And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. So she's got. Adam and Eve have two sons. Now, one is a rancher and the other one is a farmer. And so they're both producing food and that sort of thing. [00:29:34] This is Genesis, chapter four, verse three and four. And in the process of time, it came to pass that, that Cain brought the fruit of the ground, an offering to the Lord. [00:29:48] And Abel also brought the firstlings of his flock and the feather of. So we make an offerings to the Lord. [00:29:56] And obviously when you bring an offering, God has shown them what type of offering is acceptable and what isn't. [00:30:05] Let's see what they did. The offerings of the Lord is worship. That's where we get a lot of time. I'll stop here to make this plain. A lot of times we get people confused about what tithing and making offering is for the time that we live in. [00:30:20] We know that the tithing belongs to the Lord. [00:30:24] So this is an aspect of what belongs to the Lord. And when we bring our tithes and then our offerings is what we add up on the 10% God has asked. The tithe means 10. [00:30:34] And so anything we add up above the 10% is our offering. And that is our worship. That's part of our worship. Not the only aspect of our worship, but it's part of it. And I see a lot of times too, this is a confusion because a lot of times we don't understand things that it looks like folk ask for money all the time, all these different kinds of things. And we'll get to that in later lessons. But since we brought, we talked about it, I wanted to bring it up here. [00:31:00] And so. [00:31:02] And so this is what it is. In the process of time, they both bought offering. Now Cane, Cane brought the, you know, he was a tiller of the ground and he brought his offerings. Also Abel brought the first things of his flock. [00:31:17] So Abel is doing what the Lord instructed them to do and the fat thereof. So that means he bought the first things of his flock, the best of what it was. And he bought gave God his first before we took it home and did it. I got to give God his first and then I'll take mine after the best has been offered to the God. To God. [00:31:39] We learned that they're bringing offerings to the Lord themselves. [00:31:43] So we. [00:31:45] So that we are. [00:31:48] They are not dependent upon their parents. Now so obviously this lets us know that they are the ones bringing their offerings now. [00:31:58] So obviously they are both of age or they would have said that Adam and Eve brought the orphans for them, you know, so we can know that. [00:32:07] Now one brought the offerings of the fat and the. The fatlings of his land and the best. The other ones bought fruit and vegetables up there. [00:32:16] And so incorrect worship is unacceptable. I told y' all what to do this and you don't have the authority to change what I've told you to bring me. So you can't say, look, I let ought to be good enough for him. You can't say that he told you what to bring here. This is Genesis, chapter four, verses four and five. [00:32:36] And the Lord had respect unto Abel and his offering, but unto Cain's offering, he had no respect. That just means God lacked Abel's offering and accepted to Cain's offering. You know, that ain't what I told you to bring up here. [00:32:53] I don't like it and I will not accept it. He told him that. And so our worship must be according to God's word. [00:33:02] So much of this is in our worship and our belief system today. [00:33:08] And now we are, you know, biblically ignorant, which is what these lessons are here to get us started on a fundamental level to grow into where we can grow into a complete understanding until, you know, people don't know what they're supposed to be doing with this. The keep watching these shows, tell your friends and family and we'll get beyond that here. [00:33:31] And so we don't have any authority to change what the word of God said to fit our disbelief. I believe our circumstances. We don't have the authority to change that. [00:33:44] Why was Cain's offering unacceptable? [00:33:48] Well, the answer to this question is found in a New Testament scripture here that teaches salvation. This is Hebrews, chapter 9, verse 22. [00:33:59] Almost all things by the law are purged with blood. [00:34:04] Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin. So their offering and their worship is not only just worshiping God, but it has to do with remitting their sin so that they can have a relationship with the Lord without, you know, without doing these things. God has created something to where we can continue to have a relationship until I can make y' all my children again. That's what this little thing is doing. And the life is in the blood. And so the life of the animal was allowed as a substitute. You know, the. The blood of this lamb is not going to pay completely for the sin, but it will pay a little bit of portion of it to get you to a time when payment in completion can be done, when we can let you bring a pivot once and fall, but you're not there yet. So you keep bringing the blood of the animal up here to me. And I accept that until we can get to that point. So the life is in the blood, and God allowed the animal to substitute for your own blood. [00:35:09] So the law of sin and death will be satisfied. The law of sin, of death. Remember what it was. The soul that sinneth, it shall die. [00:35:16] So this will allow us to satisfy that, to keep you alive long enough to where I can get you back to where what you're doing is acceptable. [00:35:27] So Abel killed an animal. It allowed a substitution for our death temporarily, you know, until you got to keep bringing the ammo, keep doing it because it's not perfect. [00:35:41] So offerings had to be made continually. [00:35:44] So we had to every so often bring it up there when God told us to do it. And God. [00:35:49] God is the one who told Adam. I mean, who told Abel. I'm sorry, forgive me. Who told Cain that Abel's offering was acceptable and yours is not. [00:36:02] God was the one who told him. And so, you know, you want to bring conflict in somebody's life, you tell them name baptized, right? Or what they did is they agree with the Bible, saying you gotta fight on your hands. And that is what happened here. [00:36:15] And so this is the beginning of conflict over religion right here. This is Genesis, chapter four, verses five through seven. [00:36:23] And Cain was very wroth and his countenance fail. And the Lord said unto Cain, why art thou wroth? [00:36:33] And why is thou counting as fallen thou dost? If thou doest well, you should be accepted. [00:36:43] And if thou not doeth well sin, live at the door. [00:36:51] All you got to do is do what I told you to do, and I'll accept you. We forget about this and move on. But if you don't sin, life at the door is for sin's sake. You got to do this in the first place. [00:37:03] But now if you don't do it right, there's a farther sin. So please don't do it. [00:37:08] And God goes on to tell us why his countenance was fallen if thou do these things, his desire shall be unto you. You the oldest brother. So his countenance is falling because my little brother walking around here with his chest stuck out thinking he better than me. [00:37:32] Well, that's obviously bothering Kane. [00:37:36] He don't want to have to go and ask Abe because he ain't got nothing that's gonna shed no blood. [00:37:41] Well, you know, you go sense it, say, look, look, Abel, I got three or four bushes. How much. How many bushes of corn will it take for me to buy your the best lamb you got over there, you know, And I throw in some. Some tomatoes and two. Just let me know how much it is. That's all he got to do. But he don't want to go ask his little brother that. I ain't gonna have my little brother telling me what. What I'm doing ain't right. And so that is what is wrong with mankind today. You can't say now everybody saved everybody with it. Because nobody wants to do what God has asked us to do. And if we know that, we bring it to someone's attention now, we got fighting, fighting words now. [00:38:25] And so I'm gonna continue here and bring this back here. So if you want to make someone angry with their religion, just tell them they ain't baptized, right? Or what you believe ain't what God said, or whatever the case may be. So, you know, subtleties in the scripture is what Ted told us, what came, what Kane's problem was. You know, he didn't want to go to his little brother. [00:38:49] And God corrects him by saying, if you do well, everything will be all right. But, you know, Skin Cane don't want to hear that, you know. And so a lot of times, too, today, when we tell people that, you know, the Bible says you should do this, I'd rather argue with you than to leave and check out what you said. Because my pastor told me I didn't have to do that, so I ain't even going to check. You're wrong. [00:39:17] And so God gives us the penalty also of not doing right. A lot of times we don't think about this. He said, if you don't do this, sin and death lies at the door. You know, a lot of times we have signs on the street when we drive the school zone. Like the school zone is 20 miles per hour. [00:39:40] Then underneath that, that tells you what the miles per hour is. There's the penalty. Now, the penalty for going faster than 20 miles per hour in the school zone starts at $250, and it goes up from there that says this is the start of it. [00:39:56] So if you are extremely, you know, speeding, then it's gonna go up and up and up and up. Could be some jail time. Depends on how fast you're going. And so this is what God has done to Canada. If you don't. This is the penalty of what she's doing. So we shouldn't get mad over religion. Why just do it God's way. Just do what he said. And especially when something pertains to my soul, I'm going to cross every I and dot every T, you know what I'm saying? So. [00:40:27] So if I would have to get go and trade an animal for some corn with Abel, and that's what I just have to do. [00:40:36] And so Proverbs 13, chapter 13, verse 10 says this. Only by pride cometh contention, but with the well advised is wisdom. [00:40:49] God gives the wisdom. Cain, just do what I tell you to do, you'll be all right. Well, you know. [00:40:55] And this scripture tells us what's wrong. His pride was way too high. [00:40:59] Look, I ain't going to ask that little brat for nothing. [00:41:02] Y' all already walking around here thinking he's somewhat chest stuff out because he's raising them stinking animals. I ain't asking him for nothing. Them peaches ought to be good enough. Them turnips or whatever he brought up there ought to be good enough. It's always pride that brings strife. [00:41:17] And Cain's ego was way too big. [00:41:20] And that kind of tells us this. This is James, chapter 4, verse 6. God resisteth the proud, but gives grace to the humble. [00:41:31] Well, you know, that's an amazing thing and lets us know what we ought to do. And pride is not something. Our flesh is a prideful thing. [00:41:42] And so we should not allow our pride to paint us into a corner where we can't find a way out of the predictable that we find ourselves in. [00:41:54] Well, this lesson so far has shown us a lot from the most elementary elements of this to show us where we are, how we became to be in the predicament. We're in the predicament that we're still in unless we take part in the salvation that's available to us. [00:42:15] But this brings us to the stopping point in this lesson. [00:42:20] And we know when we go on for here, we're going to talk about how these two men listen to what God say, how they were either obedient or disobedient to what God said and the punishment thereof. [00:42:36] And so in our next lesson, we're going to find out about what happened to these men, how God looked at these men, and also the world's first murder. And we'll be right back.
